Project Overview
Two new vibrant fronts will be created as a part of the proposed plans – along Elm Street and a new ‘Civic Plaza’ to connect Elm St and Herbert St.
The project is consistent with the goals and vision of the Davis Square Plan.
Phase One is an adaptive reuse of the 58 Day St Building and 260 Elm Street “Connector”
Phase Two includes the reimagined Plaza and a new 4-story building, with setbacks on the 4th floor to create a roof top terrace for tenants to engage with the urban center.
A Vibrant New Civic Plaza
By creating a new 7,500 square foot civic plaza, the 7th Spoke project offers a number of community benefits.
Transforms an underutilized and unwelcoming pedestrian corridor into a dynamic urban plaza
Creates a new community hub for a variety of formal and events, including: arts, music, youth, community, etc.
Assures through design and programing that the space will be creatively activated year-round
Maximizes environmental benefits by collecting storm water and runoff, limiting heat island effects, etc.
Increases local and visitor foot traffic to adjacent businesses
Allows for meaningful connectivity between Herbert Street and the heart of Davis Square
